A quick reminder before we start: sponsors help support the work behind this newsletter. Taking a moment to check them out is a simple way to support what I do here. Thank you. Now let’s get into it.
Most creators believe one thing:
You need a big audience to make money online.
More followers.
More views.
More reach.
Because it feels logical. But the reality is different.
Some creators with smaller audiences earn more than those with hundreds of thousands of followers.
And the reason is simple.
It’s not about size, it’s about loyalty
Not all audiences are equal.
A large audience that scrolls past your content has limited value.
A smaller audience that pays attention, trusts you, and engages with your work is far more powerful.
Because monetization doesn’t come from numbers.
It comes from relationships.
When people trust your voice, they are more likely to:
• read your content
• reply to your posts
• share your work
• support what you build
That’s what makes an audience valuable.
What a loyal audience looks like
A loyal audience doesn’t need to be huge. It simply needs to care.
These are the people who:
Open your newsletters consistently
Reply to your posts
Remember your ideas
Recommend your work to others
They don’t just follow you. They follow your journey.
And over time, that connection becomes stronger.

Why smaller audiences convert better
Here’s something many creators discover later:
Smaller audiences often convert better.
Why?
Because the connection feels closer.
When you’re early in your journey, your audience feels more personal.
People recognize your name.
They see you replying.
They feel part of what you’re building.
That level of connection creates trust.
And trust is what drives action. Not exposure.
My own experience
When I started my newsletter on Beehiiv, I didn’t have thousands of subscribers.
I started from zero.
And within a few months, it grew to over 800 subscribers.
That’s still a relatively small audience.
But it’s engaged.
Readers reply to my emails.
They share feedback.
They support what I build.
That’s what makes the difference.
Because even a smaller audience can generate meaningful results when the connection is real.

Some amazing feedback from my newsletter.

The shift most creators need to make
Many creators focus too much on growth.
Chasing numbers.
Comparing followers.
Looking for viral moments.
But growth without connection is fragile.
A better approach is to focus on:
Building trust
Sharing consistently
Creating value
When those elements are in place, the audience grows naturally.
And when it grows, it grows stronger.

The real opportunity
You don’t need millions of followers or subscribers to build something meaningful.
You need:
A clear voice
A consistent presence
And people who believe in what you share
A small, loyal audience can support your work, your products, and your ideas in ways that a large passive audience cannot.
So if your audience still feels small, don’t underestimate it.
Focus on the people who are already there.
Talk to them.
Build with them.
Grow with them.
Because sometimes, a smaller audience is not a limitation.
It’s an advantage.
