A quick reminder before we start: sponsors help support the work behind this newsletter. Taking a moment to check them out is a simple way to support what I do here. Thank you. Now let’s get into it.

Everyone wants more paid subscribers.

So the advice sounds obvious:

Lower your price.
More people will join.

Simple. Logical. Repeated everywhere.

But most of the time, what sounds logical…
is just lazy thinking.

The analogy that doesn’t apply

I came across a post on X that said:

“Don’t earn $10 from one dress. Earn $10 by selling three dresses.

Lower prices. Increase volume. More customers will come.”

That works in retail.

It does not work in a trust-based business.

And make no mistake, that’s exactly what you’re building.

You are not selling products. You are selling trust

When you lower your subscription, you are not just adjusting a number.

You are repositioning your work.

You are telling people:

  • This is easy to access.

  • This is easy to leave.

  • This is easy to forget.

And that is the fastest way to become invisible.

Cheap attracts attention. It does not build loyalty

Low prices don’t just bring more people. They bring the wrong people.

  • People who hesitate to pay even a few dollars.

  • People who subscribe without intention.

  • People who leave just as quickly as they came.

You gain subscribers. But you lose weight behind every number.

This applies to digital products too

The same mistake shows up everywhere.

Not just in subscriptions, but in digital products.

Too many creators underprice their work.

  • $5 guides.

  • $9 courses.

  • $19 bundles.

Not because that’s the real value… but because it feels safer.

But lowering the price doesn’t fix the problem.

If your product doesn’t convert at $29, it won’t suddenly convert at $9.

You don’t fix weak positioning by making things cheaper. You fix it by making the value undeniable.

Because the right people don’t hesitate to pay more. They hesitate when they don’t see the value.

High value changes the relationship

When someone pays more, the dynamic shifts.

They pay attention.
They read differently.
They stay longer.

Because they didn’t just click subscribe. They made a decision.

And decisions create commitment.

You don’t need more subscribers. You need better ones

This is where most creators get it wrong.

They optimize for quantity.

More people. More clicks. More numbers.

But numbers without trust don’t build anything.

A small group that believes in your work
will outperform a large audience that doesn’t care.

Every single time.

The real strategy

Stop asking:

How do I get more subscribers? How do I sell more digital products?

Start asking:

How do I increase the value of what I offer?

Because when value is clear,
price stops being the problem.
