The platform that once revolved around short posts and threads is moving steadily toward video.

Longer videos.
Better discovery.
More attention on retention.

And many creators haven’t adjusted yet.

If you’ve been building primarily with text, this isn’t a reason to panic.

But it is a reason to pay attention.

Why this shift is happening now

Today is an interesting milestone.

xAI turns three years old.

In a short amount of time, xAI has already introduced tools that are changing how creators produce content, including AI image and video generation through tools like Grok Imagine.

The evolution of X into a more video-centric platform is not happening in isolation.

It’s happening alongside rapid improvements in AI tools that make visual content easier to create than ever before.

Just a few years ago, producing video required expensive equipment, editing skills, and significant time.

Today, creators can generate visuals, animations, and even short cinematic clips using AI.

When you combine AI-powered creation with a platform that increasingly rewards video and attention retention, the direction becomes clear.

Creators who understand this shift early will have an advantage.

Not because text is disappearing.

But because the toolkit for creators is expanding.

Why long-form is being rewarded

Platforms are constantly looking for one thing: attention that lasts.

Short posts generate quick reactions.

But long-form content creates something more valuable.

Time spent.

When someone watches a video for several minutes, the platform learns something important: the content is holding attention.

That signal is extremely valuable.

It tells the system that the creator isn’t just generating impressions,  they’re generating engagement that keeps people on the platform.

This is why longer videos are increasingly being prioritized.

Not because they are longer.

But because they tend to hold attention.

The Architecture Behind AI-Native Revenue Automation

In our new white paper, The Architecture Behind AI-Native Revenue Automation, Tabs CTO Deepak Bapat breaks down what it actually takes to apply AI to revenue workflows without breaking the books.

You’ll learn why probabilistic reasoning isn’t enough for finance, how Tabs pairs LLMs with deterministic logic, and why a unified Commercial Graph is the foundation for scalable, audit-ready automation. From contract interpretation to cash application, this paper goes deep on where AI belongs—and where it absolutely doesn’t.

If you’re evaluating AI for billing, collections, or revenue operations, this is the architecture perspective most vendors won’t show you.

If you’re a text-first creator

Many creators feel uncomfortable when they hear the word video.

They imagine expensive equipment, complex editing, or needing to become a performer.

But video doesn’t have to start that way.

If you’re already good at writing threads or posts, you already have the foundation for video.

Start simple.

Take one idea you would normally write about and explain it out loud.

Think of it as a spoken thread.

No special production required.

Just clarity of thought.

Many of the best educational videos online are simply someone explaining an idea clearly.

A simple framework for educational long-form

If you’re not sure what to say in a longer video, use a simple structure.

  1. Start with the problem.
What is the issue people are struggling with?

  2. Explain the insight.
What did you learn that helped you understand the problem better?

  3. Break down the steps.
Give the audience a clear way to apply what you’re explaining.

  4. End with a takeaway.
Something simple they can remember or try immediately.

This structure works because it mirrors how people learn.

Problem.
Explanation.
Action.

One video can become ten posts

One of the biggest misconceptions about video is that it requires constant new production.

In reality, one well-structured video can produce a large amount of content.

For example:

A single long-form video can become:

• a short highlight clip
• a written thread summarizing the key ideas
• several quote posts from the video
• a short teaser video
• a behind-the-scenes insight
• a discussion prompt for your audience

Suddenly, one idea becomes many pieces of content.

This is how many creators maintain output without constantly inventing new topics.

They expand one idea in multiple directions.

This is not a warning, it’s an opportunity

When platforms evolve, it can feel intimidating.

But shifts like this also create openings.

Many creators will ignore the change.

Others will experiment slowly.

A smaller group will adapt early.

You don’t need to become a full-time video creator overnight.

But beginning to explore video now can position you well for what’s coming.

Because platforms tend to reward creators who adapt while the transition is still happening.

X started as a platform for short messages.

Today it’s evolving into something broader.

Text will always have a place.

But video is clearly becoming part of the ecosystem.

And the creators who combine clear ideas with visual storytelling will have a powerful advantage.

So the real question isn’t whether video matters.

It’s simply this:

Are you going to start experimenting with it?
