For a long time, I thought my content was the product.
The posts.
The videos.
The newsletters.
That’s what I was spending time on.
That’s what I was trying to improve.
But over time… I realized something.
Content isn’t the product
Content is just how people find you. That’s it.
It’s the first touch. The first impression.
The thing that makes someone stop and think, “This is interesting.”
But it’s not what people stay for.
What people actually stay for
Think about the creators you follow. You don’t follow them because of one post.
You follow them because:
You like how they think.
You trust what they say.
You feel connected to their perspective.
That’s the real thing. That’s the product.
I saw this happen myself
At some point, I stopped looking only at views.
And started noticing something else.
Who comes back.
Who replies.
Who subscribes.
Who reads consistently.
That’s when it clicked.
The content brought people in.
But the connection made them stay.
This changes how you create
When you think content is the product, you start chasing numbers.
More posts.
More reach.
More visibility.
But when you understand what really matters, your focus shifts.
You start thinking:
“How do I make people come back?”
“How do I make this useful?”
“How do I make this feel like me?”
Where the real value builds
Most of your content lives on platforms like X,Instagram, Threads…
That’s where people discover you.
But the real relationship?
That builds elsewhere. In places where people choose to stay.
For me, that’s been my newsletter on Beehiiv.
Because when someone gives you their email, it’s different.
They’re not just scrolling. They’re choosing to hear from you.
Content attracts, connection retains
This is the simplest way I can explain it.
Content brings attention.
Connection keeps it.
Why this matters more than ever
Right now, content is everywhere.
AI made it easier.
Templates made it faster.
So creating content is no longer the hard part.
Standing out isn’t about posting more.
It’s about building something people actually care about.
So if you remember one thing
Don’t just focus on your content.
Focus on what happens after someone sees it.
Do they come back?
Do they trust you?
Do they feel something?
Because that’s what turns content into something real.
If this made you think of someone, share it with them and encourage them to subscribe so they don’t miss what’s coming next.
See you on the next one
