So after yesterday’s newsletter, I received a wave of messages from creators saying:
“Okay… but how do you stay focused?
How do you keep going without getting distracted or overwhelmed?”
It’s a fair question.
Staying disciplined in a world full of noise, opinions, notifications, and comparison is one of the hardest parts of being a creator.
So today, let’s talk about focus - real focus - the kind that lasts longer than motivation and survives on the days you feel tired, discouraged, or pulled in ten different directions.
Because focus isn’t a gift.
It’s a practice.
1. You Stay Focused By Remembering Who You’re Becoming (Not Who You Are Today)
You’re not creating for right now, you’re creating for the version of you you’re building.
When you remember that:
· you show up differently
· you post differently
· you think differently
Focus becomes easier because it’s no longer about the next post…
it’s about the person you’re becoming through the process.
This is identity-based focus.
It lasts longer than motivation ever will.
2. You Stay Focused By Limiting What You Consume
You can’t create with clarity while consuming with chaos.
The more you scroll:
· the more you compare
· the more confused you get
· the more lost your voice becomes
Creators lose focus the same way they lose momentum - slowly and silently, through constant consumption.
Try this:
Before posting, don’t scroll.
Write first.
Create first.
Then check the timeline.
Protect your creative energy.

3. You Stay Focused By Reducing Your Goals to One Sentence
When your goals are too big, your mind panics.
When they’re too vague, your mind wanders.
You need one clear direction.
Ask yourself:
“What am I building in the next 90 days?”
Just one thing:
· A stronger community?
· A more consistent posting habit?
· A better visual style?
· A new product?
If you don’t choose the direction, distractions will choose it for you.
4. You Stay Focused By Using AI the Right Way (As Support, Not Escape)
AI can make you faster, but it can also make you distracted.
The key is to use it intentionally:
· idea batching
· writing drafts
· improving clarity
· enhancing visuals
· building systems
Not endless prompting, endless exploration, endless tweaking.
AI should support your focus, not steal it.
5. You Stay Focused By Having a Routine You Don’t Negotiate With
Not a perfect routine.
Not a strict routine.
Just a baseline you can stick to.
For example:
· 1 morning idea
· 1 mid-day post
· 1 visual every 2–3 days
· 10–15 minutes of engagement
When you have a routine, you eliminate the biggest focus killer:
decision fatigue.
6. You Stay Focused By Celebrating the Invisible Wins
Creators lose focus because they only celebrate:
· views
· likes
· followers
· payouts
But you should also celebrate:
· the day you posted when you felt tired
· the draft you finished
· the visual you learned to improve
· the idea that came to you on a walk
· the courage to show up again
These micro-wins build resilience, and resilience builds focus.
7. You Stay Focused By Knowing When to Rest
Overthinking destroys focus.
Exhaustion destroys creativity.
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is:
· take a short break
· walk outside
· reset your mind
· breathe
Focus doesn’t come from grinding endlessly.
It comes from learning your rhythm.
You can’t stay consistent without staying well.
A Reminder for the Creator in You
Focus isn’t about shutting the world out.
It’s about choosing where your energy goes, every single day.
And if you’re here, reading this… it means you care enough to stay in the arena.
Keep your eyes on your journey, not your distractions.
Your consistency is building something the algorithm will notice and your future self will thank you for.
If this helped you, reply directly to this email and share one habit you want to improve. I might include it in a future newsletter.
See you in the next one.
