The goal is to boost reply counts so the post looks popular
But X keeps adjusting the system, and the truth is simple: people will always try to game it and platforms will always close the loopholes.
Reply-for-reply doesn’t work anymore. But creators who adapt will stay visible.
Those who hang on to old tactics will fade with them.
The rules will keep changing on the platform, your ability to evolve is what actually matters.

Every reply should be treated as its own post.
That means:
Relevant to the original post
Interesting on its own
Worth showing to someone who wasn’t part of the thread
If your reply is good enough, the Grok algorithm may surface it on other Home timelines, alongside the original post.
Bonus:
More visibility
Real conversations
Possible new followers
And if someone replies to your reply?
Well, your content has an even better chance of being shown to them later.
