You like the idea of having a space that’s truly yours, away from algorithms, constant noise, and pressure to perform.

But then the doubts show up.

What is Beehiiv, really?
Where do I even start?
What if I set it up wrong from the beginning?

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone.

I felt exactly the same way

When I started, I had no real guideline.

I asked a few questions to other Beehiiv writers, but for everything else, I learned on my own - by trying, making mistakes, fixing things, and slowly figuring it out.

Looking back, I really wish I had a practical guide back then. Something clear. Something calm. Something that told me, step by step, what actually mattered - and what I could safely ignore.

That’s what stayed with me.

That’s why I createdBeehiiv for Beginners”

I realized that most people don’t need motivation, they need clarity.

So I created Beehiiv for Beginners, a practical guide designed for people starting from zero. No tech background required. No previous newsletter experience. No pressure to be perfect.

Inside, I walk you through:

  • What Beehiiv actually is

  • How to set up your newsletter step by step

  • What to write when you feel stuck

  • How to send your first newsletters with confidence

It’s the guide I wish I had when I started.

Finding your rhythm comes first

One thing I’ve learned along the way is this:
before anything else, you need to get comfortable writing and showing up.

At the beginning, it’s not about growth, numbers, or results. It’s about pressing “send” a few times, finding your voice, and realizing that you don’t need to be perfect to be consistent.

Those first newsletters are where everything starts to click.
You learn what feels natural to write about.
You learn how much time it really takes.
And slowly, sending stops feeling scary.

That phase matters more than people think and it’s often skipped or rushed.

When I started, I had zero subscribers. No audience, no feedback, no confirmation that anyone was even reading. I remember pressing “send” anyway, wondering if it made any sense to keep going. But those early sends were essential.

They gave me confidence before they gave me results. Writing regularly helped me trust my voice, refine my ideas, and build momentum quietly, long before the numbers showed up. Looking back, that stage wasn’t empty at all, it was foundational.

A note about monetization

This part matters, and it’s often misunderstood.

Monetization doesn’t come first. It comes after you’ve written and sent several newsletters, after you’ve found your rhythm, and after showing up starts to feel normal rather than stressful. Before you start thinking of getting paid for what you write, you need to be comfortable writing it, consistently and honestly.

This guide doesn’t rush that process on purpose. It’s designed to help you build the foundation properly: your voice, your cadence, and your relationship with your readers. When those things are in place, monetization feels like a natural next step, not an awkward leap.

Money follows trust.
Trust follows consistency.

And consistency is built long before the first dollar shows up.

Attention spans are shrinking. Get proven tips on how to adapt:

Mobile attention is collapsing.

In 2018, mobile ads held attention for 3.4 seconds on average.
Today, it’s just 2.2 seconds.

That’s a 35% drop in only 7 years. And a massive challenge for marketers.

The State of Advertising 2025 shows what’s happening and how to adapt.

If starting a newsletter has been on your mind

If this idea has been quietly sitting with you for a while, coming back every few weeks, nudging you when you read something you wish you’d written, it’s probably worth listening to it.

You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin. You don’t need a big audience, a perfect niche, or a polished plan. You just need a place to start, and a structure that makes the first steps feel manageable instead of overwhelming.

That’s exactly why I put this guide together, to give you a clear, simple starting point, without the noise or pressure.
