Three months ago, starting Beehiiv was just an idea.

No subscribers.
No guarantees.
No “email list strategy.”

Just me, starting something new from zero at the end of November 2025.

In January 2026, I made my first $1,000 on Beehiiv, just two months (8 weeks) after starting.

It may look fast. But it wasn’t accidental.

I Didn’t Start With an Audience There

When I joined Beehiiv, I had:

  • No email list

  • No built-in monetization

  • No brand deals

  • No shortcuts

I built it from scratch.

Yes, I already had presence on X.
But Beehiiv was a new platform.
New dashboard.
New system.

Zero subscribers means no built-in reach, no guaranteed opens, no immediate revenue. You’re building from the ground up.

The $1K Didn’t Come From Luck

It came from three things:

1. Consistency
I write Monday to Saturday. Every single week.
Not just when I feel inspired but because it’s on my calendar.

2. Monetizing Early
I didn’t wait until I was “big enough.”
I activated monetization from the start.
I took it seriously before it looked serious.

3. Transparency
I share what works and what doesn’t with my audience.

People trust what they can see.

When I started, I didn’t think:

“I need 50K subscribers.”

I thought:

“Let me build 100 real ones.”

Then 200.
Then 500.
Now we’re past that.

A newsletter is different from social media.

On X, or other social media platforms, visibility fluctuates.
On Beehiiv, ownership compounds.

You don’t fight an algorithm.
You build an asset.

How Monetization Actually Works on Beehiiv

A lot of people think newsletter monetization is complicated.

It’s not.

On Beehiiv, you can activate their built-in Ad Network. Brands submit campaigns, and you choose whether to include them in your newsletter.

Here’s the key part:

You don’t get paid just for sending the newsletter.
You get paid when readers click on the ads.

So the model is performance-based.

If your audience is engaged, finds value in your content, and trusts you, they click. When they click, you earn. It’s a win-win.

That’s why audience quality matters more than audience size.

You don’t need 100,000 subscribers.
You need readers who:

  • Actually open your emails

  • Actually read your content

  • Actually trust your recommendations

And what I like most with Beehiiv’s monetization?

You can see everything inside your dashboard:

  • Estimated payout

  • Click numbers

  • Which campaign performed

  • How much each campaign is worth

No guessing.
No hidden formulas.
Just transparent performance.

It turns writing into something measurable.

And once you see that first payout notification, something shifts.

You realize this isn’t just “content.” It’s an asset.

Equipment policies break when you hire globally

Deel’s latest policy template on IT Equipment Policies can help HR teams stay organized when handling requests across time zones (and even languages). This free template gives you:

  • Clear provisioning rules across all countries

  • Security protocols that prevent compliance gaps

  • Return processes that actually work remotely

This free equipment provisioning policy will enable you to adjust to any state or country you hire from instead of producing a new policy every time. That means less complexity and more time for greater priorities.

This Isn’t About $1,000

It’s about proof.

Proof that:

  • Writing is leverage.

  • Consistency is leverage.

  • Owned audience beats rented reach.

  • Small creators can monetize early.

Most people think:

“I’ll monetize later.”

Later usually last for months.

Monetization is not the reward. It’s the reinforcement.

When you earn your first dollar from your ideas, you stop seeing yourself as “just posting.”

You start seeing yourself as a builder.

For Those Who Haven’t Started Yet

Half of my audience doesn’t have a newsletter yet.

That’s okay.

But ask yourself:

Are you building something you own?
Or only feeding platforms you don’t control?

You don’t need 10K subscribers.
You don’t need perfect branding.
You don’t need a website.

You need:

  • A topic

  • A voice

  • A commitment

The rest grows.
