So after that recent post about low-quality replies affecting reach on X, I noticed something interesting.

A lot of creators didn’t feel informed.
They felt confused.

Some started wondering:

  • Should I reply less?

  • Am I hurting my reach by commenting?

  • Should I just stop engaging altogether?

One comment summed it up perfectly:

“I’m tired of worrying about commenting too much.”

That feeling makes sense. But it’s also a signal that something needs to be reframed.

This was never about replying “less”

The message wasn’t: don’t reply.

The message was: don’t fill space with noise.

Replies are not bad.
Conversation is not punished.
Engagement is not the enemy.

What hurts reach is low-effort activity repeated at scale - the kind that adds nothing for the reader and nothing for the system to understand.

How much could AI save your support team?

Peak season is here. Most retail and ecommerce teams face the same problem: volume spikes, but headcount doesn't.

Instead of hiring temporary staff or burning out your team, there’s a smarter move. Let AI handle the predictable stuff, like answering FAQs, routing tickets, and processing returns, so your people focus on what they do best: building loyalty.

Gladly’s ROI calculator shows exactly what this looks like for your business: how many tickets AI could resolve, how much that costs, and what that means for your bottom line. Real numbers. Your data.

Why this became confusing

For a long time, creators were told:
“Reply everywhere.”
“Be visible at all costs.”
“Engagement is engagement.”

So when the platform clarified that empty replies can hurt distribution, it felt like the rules changed overnight.

They didn’t.

The system just got better at telling the difference between:

  • participation

  • and filler

The real distinction that matters

Here’s the line to remember:

Replies that add value help you.
Replies that only exist to be seen don’t.

That’s it.

Not volume.
Not frequency.
Not being “too active.”

It’s about intent.

But what can you actually DO about the proclaimed ‘AI bubble’? Billionaires know an alternative…

Sure, if you held your stocks since the dotcom bubble, you would’ve been up—eventually. But three years after the dot-com bust the S&P 500 was still far down from its peak. So, how else can you invest when almost every market is tied to stocks?

Lo and behold, billionaires have an alternative way to diversify: allocate to a physical asset class that outpaced the S&P by 15% from 1995 to 2025, with almost no correlation to equities. It’s part of a massive global market, long leveraged by the ultra-wealthy (Bezos, Gates, Rockefellers etc).

Contemporary and post-war art.

Masterworks lets you invest in multimillion-dollar artworks featuring legends like Banksy, Basquiat, and Picasso—without needing millions. Over 70,000 members have together invested more than $1.2 billion across over 500 artworks. So far, 25 sales have delivered net annualized returns like 14.6%, 17.6%, and 17.8%.*

Simple guidelines to stop overthinking replies

If you’re feeling anxious about whether you’re commenting too much, these rules help reset things.

1. Reply when you have something to add

Insight, nuance, a question, a personal angle.

If your reply could only be written by you, it’s probably a good one.

2. Skip replies you wouldn’t stop to read yourself

If you scroll past replies like “gm”, emojis, or “this”, others do too.

The system learns from that behavior.

3. Don’t replace creation with reaction

Replies should support your original posts - not replace them.

If you notice most of your energy going into reacting instead of creating, rebalance gently.

4. One meaningful reply > ten empty ones

A single thoughtful reply in the right place can introduce you to new people.

Ten generic ones rarely do.

5. Stop treating engagement like a chore

You don’t need to “keep up”.

You’re allowed to be selective.
You’re allowed to stay quiet.
You’re allowed to engage when it feels natural.

The Future of Shopping? AI + Actual Humans.

AI has changed how consumers shop, but people still drive decisions. Levanta’s research shows affiliate and creator content continues to influence conversions, plus it now shapes the product recommendations AI delivers. Affiliate marketing isn’t being replaced by AI, it’s being amplified.

You’re not doing it wrong

If this update left you feeling tense or self-conscious, that’s understandable.

But the goal isn’t to make creators anxious.
It’s to encourage better conversations.

You don’t need to worry about commenting too much.
You just need to comment with intention.

A calmer way to think about it

Create first.
Reply when it adds something.
Skip the rest without guilt.

That balance works - for your reach, and for your sanity.
