I keep hearing creators say the same thing lately:
“I feel like I don’t exist here.”
“Yet I show up every single day on X.”
And that sentence sticks with me, because it reveals a quiet confusion many creators are living with right now.
The confusion between social media visibility and real existence.
They are not the same thing.
And when we mix them up, it messes with our confidence, our motivation, and our sense of self.
Showing Up Is Not the Same as Being Seen
You can post every day.
You can reply thoughtfully.
You can put real effort into your words.
And still feel invisible.
Why?
Because platforms don’t reward presence. They reward signals.
Impressions. Timing. Formats. Momentum. Algorithms.
Your work can be good, even meaningful, and still not travel far.
That doesn’t mean you don’t matter.
It means visibility is conditional, not personal.
When Visibility Becomes Identity
This is where it gets dangerous.
When numbers slow down, many creators don’t think:
“The system shifted.”
They think:
“I don’t exist.”
No likes becomes no value.
No reach becomes no relevance.
No response becomes no voice.
But your identity didn’t disappear.
Only the distribution did.
And confusing the two is how creators burn out quietly.

You Exist Outside the Feed
Your thoughts exist before the post.
Your ideas exist even if no one clicks.
Your consistency exists even when the algorithm ignores it.
A platform can hide your content:
but it cannot erase your growth, your skills, or your progress.
If you stopped posting today, you would still exist.
Your thinking wouldn’t vanish.
Your experience wouldn’t reset to zero.
That’s important to remember.
Why This Feeling Is So Common Right Now
Platforms change faster than creators can adapt.
Visibility is no longer linear.
Effort is no longer proportional to reward.
So people show up honestly…
and feel unseen anyway.
That gap, between effort and feedback, creates doubt.
Not because you’re doing something wrong,
but because you’re measuring yourself with the wrong ruler.

A Healthier Way to Look at It
Instead of asking:
“Do I exist here?”
Try asking questions that don’t depend on an algorithm to answer.
Am I learning?
Even when a post goes nowhere, are you understanding your work better than last month? Writing more clearly. Thinking more deeply. Seeing patterns you didn’t see before.
Am I sharpening my voice?
Not the voice that performs well, but the one that sounds like you, even when no one is watching. The one that feels honest instead of optimized.
Am I building something I own?
An email list. A body of work. A point of view. Something that doesn’t vanish the moment a platform shifts its rules.
Am I growing skills that outlive one platform?
Skills like writing, storytelling, analysis, creativity, and consistency don’t disappear with reach. They compound quietly, even in low-visibility phases.
When you look at your work through these questions, the silence feels different.
It’s no longer proof of absence, just a phase of distribution.
Visibility fluctuates.
Identity doesn’t have to.

You are not invisible.
You’re just operating inside a system that doesn’t reflect effort fairly.
Don’t let a feed decide whether you exist. Let it be a tool, not your identity.
And if you’re feeling this way lately, you’re not alone.
Many creators are quietly navigating the same disconnect.
Your value isn’t suspended when reach drops, it exists independently of what the feed decides to surface.
That’s all for today. And if you have any questions, reply to this email directly, I always like to hear from you.
